During one of our trips to Costa Rica, I had a direct view on the construction of a building. I took hundreds of pictures to capture as many of the workers’ habits and positions, and painted this piece back in my studio in France.

Rooftop started as an exercise with two of my beloved nephews. I was showing them an easy way to create a city and I thought it would be fun to make a small painting out of it.

This one was inspired by my natural curiosity. I looked up for an emblematic building in Paris, the Lavirotte Building, and imagined how people would have decorated their home.
