This small painting’s inspiration is pretty straightforward: after fourteen years abroad, it was time for our furniture to return to Costa Rica.

After the process of the banana, and the process of the pineapple, this is the process of the sugar cane. But this time, it’s the traditional process. Because I am not entirely sure of how to end it, I have cut out bundles of grass and I’m sticking them around to see where they look right.
Le ventre de Paris

Le Ventre de Paris is my interpretation of the central market in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France, where I lived for ten years. Inspired by Jean Mallard’s watercolor of an Italian market. I painted the food stalls that take over the town square three times a week. Some stands are real, others reimagined. This piece is not for sale. As we move back to Costa Rica, it will hang in our living room to remind my husband the joy of visiting a French market.

Puerto Moín

Even though Moín is on the Caribbean Coast, it is on the Pacific Coast that I suddenly saw one of this huge boats that seemed to ride with us on that road by the ocean. It is then with online pictures that I completed this piece.

This piece was inspired by a trip to the North of Costa Rica where the soil is red and contrasts so well with the green of the pineapples. I added a transformation plant, imagining what would be this fruit’s trajectory.

If I had painted pineapples, why not bananas? I love the idea of being able to observe the many bananas being processed by people who each have their own duty.
